Let It Shine

Let It Shine

"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine..."  Are you singing it?  This song makes me feel happy!  And isn't that what we do with each card we make by hand and send to others?  We send some light!  Well, hello and welcome back!

Who doesn't love shiny things?  Seriously, glitter, foil, sequins, embossing powder, shimmer pens, metallic paper...what's not to love! What a great class!  Carissa's class showed so many ways to bring some shine to your cards.  The one I really loved was foil!  There really are a lot of ways to add foil and I must admit, I forgot about just using liquid adhesive to attach the foil.  I always think, I have to get out the laminator, etc., but here is this easy, no fuss way to add foil!   So I just kind of made this up..I wanted to add foil to the Deck Plank 3D embossing folder, at first I used my embossing pen (the pink) in the groves between the planks, but that did not work, so instead of throwing this panel away, I used liquid adhesive, right over the embossing pen, covered with my piece of copper (gorgeous!) foil and ran through my die cutting machine and voila!  I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome!  I loved it!  So I just ran with it!

I don't know about you, but, with the name of the class being Let It Shine, I figured, hey!  let's add more shine!  So I used a double sided adhesive sheet on a small piece of cardstock, exposed the adhesive and laid the foil on top and used the Altenew Fancy Hello die to cut the shiny hello!  I felt like I need a little more color, so I Googled (gotta love Google) what colors go well with copper and decided to go with shades of turquoise.   I used Altenew Crisp Dye inks in Dew Drops, Teal Cave and Galactic Stream, stamped and cut the small leaf clusters from the Leaf Clusters stamp and die set by Altenew.  It's like modern meets farmhouse...Rustic Chic..did I come up with a new trend?

I hope you enjoyed this post and I encourage you to get out your foil or other shiny things and give shine a try...because after all, it's just paper!
