Irresistible Inking Techniques

Image
Irresistible Inking Techniques Hello and welcome to my project submission for this fun class that taught interesting ways to use inks beyond stamping.  There are so many different ways to use your ink...painting with ink pads, using your acrylic blocks to ink your paper, brayers, direct to paper, oh my, so many ways to use ink!   The technique I used was direct to paper, using the ink cube (I used Dark Chocolate Crisp Dye ink) down the cardstock to create the woodgrain look.  Do you see it?   I also kept this card clean and simple to highlight the woodgrain look!  I die cut one of the larger clusters from the Leaf Clusters die set from Altenew and the sentiment I used was from the Build a Flower Columbine stamp set.  I love the hello darling! sentiment.   I love the vellum band I created behind the leaf cluster.  Super easy, just run two strips (different widths) of double adhesive tape and cover with gold embossing powder and heat ...

Easy Die Cutting Techniques

Image
Easy Die Cutting Techniques Hello and welcome to today's project for the Altenew Educator Certification Program, I am so happy you stopped by!  Well, as you could tell, this class was all about die cutting!  I thoroughly enjoy die cutting and loved this class. I chose to share the negative die cutting technique.  Usually when die cutting we makers (love that term from Tim Holtz) use the positive cut piece for our cards, but with this technique, you use the negative (and of course, keep the positive, put it in your bit bin for a later use).   I kept this card very clean and simple.  When making this card, I used the Leaf Clusters Die Set from Altenew, using one of the leaf clusters and cutting them out twice.  I was torn on whether to ink blend the background or not, but decided to go with the Gold Foil cardstock as my background.  I love how it turned out.   I hope you give this technique a try and remember, it's just paper! Seasonal Scene Building

Seasonal Scene Building Calgon, Take Me Away!  to the mountains on a crisp, cool Autumn evening!  Can you smell the freshly fallen leaves and apple cider?  Welcome to Seasonal Scene Building,  I am so happy you have joined me today!   Nichol taught us so many different techniques to build a scene on our cards.  I chose to create a framed scene, to give the feeling that you are looking out through a large window towards the beautiful mountains.  Don't you love it when you use different techniques from past classes or videos in your current card project?  It's like, let's see how many techniques we can use on a card without being obnoxious!  I used a lot of blending on the card and I love how it turned out!   The colors I chose to use for my scene are Altenew Crisp Dye inks in the following colors:  Agurite, Eastern Sky, Hydrangea, Puffy Heart and Snapdragon.  I also used Deck Planks 3D Embossing Folder and blended Silv...

Celebration: Stencil Techniques

Image
Celebration:  Stencil Techniques Let's Celebrate!  Every day is the perfect day to celebrate, but that is not why we are here today, right!  So the fabulous Laurel Beard led this cool class on stenciling.  I love stenciling!  So many fun techniques!  Which technique do you prefer?  Layering stencils, using stencils to dry emboss, stamping with stencils, creating texture with stencils...I could go on and on, but lucky for you, I won't!   Today I am sharing two cards with two different techniques using stencils.  The first card entailed stenciling with modeling paste otherwise known as embossing paste and/or texture paste, they are all basically the same thing.  The stencil used is the Leaf Bed stencil by Altenew.  I wanted to add a little bit of color to my modeling paste, so I smooshed some Greenfield Crisp Dye ink onto my craft mat and mixed it in with the modeling paste to give it this beautiful green color. ...

Let It Shine

Image
Let It Shine "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine..."  Are you singing it?   This song makes me feel happy!   And isn't that what we do with each card we make by hand and send to others?  We send some light!  Well, hello and welcome back!   Who doesn't love shiny things?  Seriously, glitter, foil, sequins, embossing powder, shimmer pens,  metallic paper...what's not to love! What a great class!  Carissa's class showed so many ways to bring some shine to your cards.  The one I really loved was foil!  There really are a lot of ways to add foil and I must admit, I forgot about just using liquid adhesive to attach the foil.  I always think, I have to get out the laminator, etc., but here is this easy, no fuss way to add foil!   So I just kind of made this up..I wanted to add foil to the Deck Plank 3D embossing folder, at first I used my embossing pen (the pink) in the groves between the p...

For The Guys

Image
For The Guys Hello and welcome back to it's just paper by Lori.  I am so glad you stopped by!   For The Guys was a great class and Jenn gave several different ideas for the, very difficult at times, masculine cards.  I must admit, my stash of stamps is very feminine and florally (is that even a word) so that made this class project a little more difficult.  However, when I was going through my stamps, I ran across the Altenew Mod Vases stamp set and immediately looked at the shapes of the vases and thought...oooo...a necktie!   I hope y'all can see that too.   My plan was to use traditionally masculine ink colors and arrange the "tie" image in a simple pattern.  I used Altenew Crisp Dye Inks in the following colors: Charcoal Suit, Jet Black, Arctic Mountain and the yummy, Milk Chocolate.  The set I used for the sentiment was Build A Flower Cora Louise Peony.  My sentiment strip just seemed to get lost so I decided to use a tech...

Easy Ink Blending Techniques

Image
Easy Ink Blending Techniques  Hello!  Welcome to my project submission for the class Easy Blending Techniques, taught by the fabulous Amy Lee.  This class was so much fun and I learned different ways to include ink blending on my cards.  I must say, my favorite was the Faux Watercoloring!   So much fun!   The products I used for this card are as follows:  Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock;  floral stamps from Altenew Build a Flower Bella Hybrid Tea Rose stamp set; the sentiment was from the Altenew Build a Flower Coneflower stamp set; inks used were Altenew Crisp Dye Ink in Sweet Leaf, Peach Perfect, Cotton Candy and Mango Smoothie; Distress Inks in Lucky Clover, Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin and Spiced Marmalade.  Okay, let's get on to the project!   I started out by stamping my images with VersaMark embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Once cooled, I ink blended using Alten...
